(Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test)
The PSAT serves as practice for the real SAT, where students can get used to taking standardized, proctored tests over long periods of time.
The test is split up into four sections:
Reading (60 min)
Writing (35 min)
Math (no-calculator, 25 min)
Math (calculator, 45 min).
The test is mostly multiple choice, except for small parts of the math sections
There are 3 kinds of PSAT:
PSAT 8/9 – for 8th & 9th graders
PSAT 10 – for 10th graders
PSAT/NMSQT – usually for 11th graders applying for the National Merit Scholarship
FISD students are required to take the PSAT on 10th and 11th grade during their normal schedule on a designated day
